Endurance
Progeny
Exchange strutting his stuff on
course.
KA Czubuthan's foals are just now reaching the
age where they are competitive in endurance racing. Many of these
horses were already successfu in their first careers as race horses.
The versatility of the Arabian combined with the size, bone and
athletic ability that K A Czubuthan passes on to his progengy make
them outstanding endurance horses. The following are already making
their marks.
- Tiki Chaps Ku (g. out of Tikis Chaparella,
by Kontiki). A graded stakes-placed winner, Tiki Chaps Ku has now
won 3 25-mile distance rides. His most recent accomplishment is a
21st place finish at the prestigious Tevis Cup. Out of 250 horses
that began the ride, only 129 finished. An injury ended his racing
career in 2000 and the veterinarian's prognosis was very poor at
the time. This tough little gelding has proven everyone wrong!
Congratulations to owner (and rider) Warren Hellman, who is 70
years young!
- LDJ Magnathan (g. out of MS Magnum, by TR
Magnum). Owned by Lori Sawatzky, this handsome bay gelding
finished second in his first race, a 30 mile limited distance
ride. He is pictured below.
- Exchange (g. out of Scarlet O Sara, by Tiki
Sahiber Ku). First a winner at the races, now a flashy endurance
mount. He completed his first two 50 mile rides only four weeks
apart and is shown above with owner Tony Benedetti.
- Czubukon (g. out of Tiki Ellie Ku, by Tiki
Tessar). As a first time starter, Czubukon won his 25 mile
endurance ride, the Cougar Prowl in Okmulgee, OK. He finished 20
minutes ahead of the field. Trained by Shelly Bridges. Owned by
Mike Economopoulos.
- What About Bob (g. out of Eldans
Flashdance, by Eldans Wotan). First he was a stakes-placed winner
of 5 races. Now he finished second in the Central Division for the
Regional Best Conditioned (limited distance) in 2003. In July, he
did a multi-day ride (35 miles per day for 5 days) where he
finished first on the first day and either second or third on the
remaining days with the Best Conditioned award on days 2 and 3. He
was the only horse to complete all five days at the 35 mile
distance. Owned by Debbie Ager.
- MW Warrior (c. out of Furno Palmyra, by
Paket). First a stakes winner, MW Warrior recently retired from
the track and is in endurance training.
