Just to keep you abreast on the development of Zubi's (K A CZUBUTHAN's) foals in Poland, please be informed that at Michalow Stud a Ganges daughter named Emissa gave a colt by him. Emissa is out of Estelka, 3rd in the Oaks. The baby and mother are in good shape. He is big, long legged chestnut with white socks and a large stripe. His dam is an excellent broodmare. The other mares should foal later in March/April.
While information on K A Czubuthan's son at Michalow leaked out in the USA on the Arabian forum, I placed a little story about my experience and reasons to use him in the breeding program of Michalow, please see below.
In the last years private breeders too made an attempt to use this sire line in their programs. A couple of stallions were imported from Tersk (Russia): Arziger 1998 (Gordon x Arabika) and Komet 1990 (Naftalin x Karinka). Their progeny became popular among private breeders and owners thanks to good racing and endurance qualities. On my side I looked in the USA for a son of the legendary dhampion racer Orzel 1963 (Pietuszok x Ofirka by Ofir). Unfortunately Magnus passed away but I "discovered" K A Czubuthan 1984 (Brusally Orzelost x Chambray by Toltec) standing at Mandolynn Hill Farms.
K A Czubuthan popularly called Zubi is a grandson of Orzel imported by Ted Tweed to the USA. Zubi's pedigree offered as well a precious link to pre-war most successful Polish race dam lines no longer present in Poland. On top of it Zubi was tough as teak, with awesome performance on the oval 7/64(25-16-3)5-16, plus a National Track Record on 1 and 1/16 mile. In breeding Zubi systematically passed his winning abilities, size and strength to his progeny. After long question and answer sessions with Mike Economopoulos I imported to Poland a couple of Zubi's breedings of frozen semen and used it on my classic stakes race winning broodmares. I must say I was dam lucky.
In 2008 my grey filly Zbroja Fata 2004 out of Zeneca by Ghent became a classic stakes winner: 1st Criterium St. 2400m and Savannah St. 1600m, and placed in Amurath St 2000m, Kurozweki St.2400m and Oaks 2400m. In the 2009 season my other grey filly Mukata Fata, 2005 out of Minerva by Santhos won the Oaks 2400m and Koheilan I St 2000m plus placed in Bandos H. Both of these champion mares will start their breeding careers as of this season.
The management of Michalow Stud made a decision in 2009 to reintroduce the Koheilan Adjuze sire line into their breeding program. They chose K A Czubuthan due to his pure Polish outstanding pedigree, racing credentials and high quality of his get. Michalow bought last season 5 breedings for its performance mares. All of us are very hopeful that one of these mares will produce a colt that will meet the stringed criteria of the state studs and become in the future a key progenitor of this precious and valiant sire line.
